Our Story

The Hidden Gem Bake shop is a local family business, born in 2018 in the lively fishing village of Ucluelet on Vancouver Island. 

The bakery as you see it today, started out like many others before it, with love, passion and a dream. Transformed from an above suite home, into a thriving gourmet and wholesale bakery, The Hidden Gem Bake Shop has had its fair share of evolutions. 

Our hand picked team comes from many backgrounds, with the core passion of baking from the heart. From animated home kitchen cooks, to professional Red Seal Chefs, our bakery prides itself on inclusivity and growth. Our reputation on word of mouth has allowed us to stay true to being the “Hidden Gem” of the West Coast.

Our chef Nikita

Nikita has had a passion for desserts since she was barely able to see over the kitchen counter at the age of 5. This enthusiasm for the culinary arts was sharpened during the time she spent with her grandmother, and has grown even more since The Hidden Gem opened it’s doors for the first time.

Here’s how we set the stage.

With no other formal background in cooking or baking, Nikita embodies the Hidden Gem’s motto of passion and dedication. A few years into the birth of the bakery, Nikita has had the chance to learn beside Red Seal Pastry Chefs, and travel the globe to bring you the finest desserts our Earth has to offer.

Now Nikita continues to hone her skills in the bakery with daily practice, as well as, travelling around the world to learn from other heartfelt masters in the field.

When Nikita is baking, you can always be sure that it is made with love.
